Sectors & Galaxy

The Nova Rift galaxy is divided into 81 sectors arranged in a 9×9 grid. Each sector has a security classification that determines what resources are available and how dangerous it is. Discover sectors by scanning, build influence, and eventually claim territory in the lawless outer rim.

Security Zones

High SecurityRing 0 (New Haven center)

The safe core of the galaxy. Populated asteroid fields, lower-tier resources. Ideal for new players. PvP is possible but most targets will be shielded.

Asteroids: Common & Uncommon (Food, Steel, Energy, some Astromite)
Risk Level: Low
Low SecurityRings 1–2

Transitional space between the safe core and the lawless fringe. Better resource deposits, moderate NPC threats. A balance of risk and reward.

Asteroids: Uncommon & Rare (Steel, Energy, Astromite, early Quantarite)
Risk Level: Medium
Null SecurityRings 3+

The lawless outer rim. The richest asteroid fields in the galaxy, but also the most dangerous. No protection — any player can attack you freely.

Asteroids: Rare & Legendary (Heavy Astromite, Quantarite, Dense Quantarite)
Risk Level: High

How Sectors Work

Galaxy Grid

The galaxy is divided into a 9×9 grid of 81 sectors. Each sector has a name, a security classification, and a set of asteroid fields and resources unique to it.

New Haven

The central sector (grid 0,0) is New Haven — a HIGH_SEC sector where all new players start. Your station begins here until you choose to relocate.

Sector Visibility

Sectors must be discovered before you can see their contents. Use Scan Probes from the Galaxy Map to reveal adjacent sectors. Galactic Observatory buildings generate probes passively.

Jump Gates

Jump Gates are structures that connect adjacent sectors. Your fleet travels through them to move between sectors. Jump Gates are always visible, even in undiscovered sectors.

Sector Names

Each sector has a unique procedurally assigned name. You can see your current sector name on the Galaxy Map and in your profile. PvP kill events display the sector name where the fight occurred.

Station Relocation

Your station (home base) can be relocated to any sector you have already visited. Moving closer to high-value asteroid fields reduces fleet travel time, making your mining and combat operations significantly more efficient.

Cost

10,000 Steel + 5,000 Energy per relocation. No cooldown, but plan carefully.

Requirements

The destination sector must already be discovered (visible on your Galaxy Map).

How To

Open the Galaxy Map → switch to Galaxy View → click a sector → click "Move Station Here".

Discovering Sectors

Scan Probes

Deploy Scan Probes from the Galaxy Map to reveal adjacent undiscovered sectors. Each probe reveals one sector. You start with 2 probes and earn more from the Galactic Observatory building and portal missions.

Galactic Observatory

Build a Galactic Observatory to passively generate Scan Probes — 1 probe per building level per day, up to a cap of 10. Higher-level observatories generate probes faster, fueling continuous exploration.
