Trading
Nova Rift has two trading systems: fixed-price NPC stations for quick transactions, and a player-driven marketplace for competitive pricing. All trades use Flux — the in-game currency. Earn Flux by selling to NPC stations or filling player sell orders. Commerce doctrine players dominate both systems.
Trading Systems
NPC Trading Stations
Fixed-price NPC stations exist at key locations on the galaxy map. Prices are set by the server and do not fluctuate with supply and demand. Reliable, but rarely the best deal.
Advantages
- ✓ Always available
- ✓ Predictable pricing
- ✓ Instant transactions
Disadvantages
- ✗ Fixed prices (no bargaining)
- ✗ Often worse than player market
- ✗ Requires travel to station location
Player Marketplace
A player-driven order book where you can post buy or sell orders at any price. Other players fill your orders when the price is right. The Commerce doctrine gets significant advantages here.
Advantages
- ✓ Set your own price
- ✓ Potentially much better rates
- ✓ No travel required to post
Disadvantages
- ✗ Orders may not fill immediately
- ✗ Requires active market monitoring
- ✗ Competition with other traders
Marketplace Order Types
Sell Order
You offer resources at a price you name. Other players can buy from you at that price. Your resources are held in escrow until the order is filled or cancelled. When filled, you receive Flux.
Buy Order
You offer to buy resources at a price you name. Other players can sell to you at that price. Your Flux is held in escrow until the order fills.
Commerce Doctrine Advantage
Commerce doctrine players are the dominant market force in Nova Rift. Their unique buildings and doctrine bonuses give them a structural edge that compounds over time.

- • Trade Nexus — Extended order capacity and trade range
Doctrine Bonuses

- • Commerce certs amplify all trading profits
Trading Tips
Mine before you sell
Astromite and Quantarite are always in demand. Players who cannot mine efficiently will pay a premium on the marketplace. Mining first lets you sell high.
Watch the resource bar
When a resource is plentiful across the server, prices drop. When it is scarce (post-war, early season), prices spike. Buy low, sell high.
Trade Runners for bulk transfers
Commerce doctrine players can build Trade Runner ships with massive cargo holds. Use them to move large quantities of resources quickly across the galaxy.
Cancel stale orders
Orders that do not fill after a few days often mean your price is wrong. Cancel and repost at a more competitive rate.
